Talks and workshops
Sustainability and wild plants, for people who don’t want to be lectured at.
Community groups, WI and gardening clubs
Evening talks, roughly an hour with questions.
From £130.
Schools
Assemblies and hands-on sessions, primary through sixth form.
Quoted for your group.
Workplaces, festivals and events
Staff days, family sessions, stalls.
Quoted for your event.
Travel within an hour of Bath is included. Further afield, or a full day rather than an hour, and I’ll say so in the quote rather than surprise you with it.
What a session is like
Plants people already walk past every day — nettle, elder, hawthorn, cleavers — and what they were used for, who used them, and what that tells you about the ground they’re growing on.
For schools it’s hands-on: things to hold, smell and identify, pitched at the year group rather than at the syllabus. For community groups it’s an hour of talk and slides with plenty of room for questions, and people usually stay behind asking them.
I bring everything needed, including specimens and large-print handouts. All you need is the room.

Where I’ve worked
- Roots Allotments — monthly seminars and growing workshops
- Marshfield Gardening Club · The WI — evening talks
- Newbridge Primary · Beechen Cliff — school sessions
- Crops Not Shops · Healing Weeds — foraging walks
Access, from someone who needs it
I have disabilities myself, so access isn’t an afterthought on these bookings. Large-print handouts come as standard, BSL interpretation can be arranged on request, and sessions can be adapted for the room and the group you’ve actually got.
If you’re organising for a group with specific needs, say so in your enquiry and I’ll tell you honestly what I can do. There’s more detail on the accessibility page.
Book a talk
Tell me the group, roughly when, and anything I should know about the room or the audience. I’ll come back with dates and a price.
